Most of the Foundation's revenue is generated through our signature fundraising activity where each volunteer, in an act of solidarity, shows support for children with cancer by shaving his/her head bald.

Special events were reinvented virtually during the pandemic, but the impact was still profound in 2020 and more so in 2021. In 2022 however, St. Baldrick's volunteers returned and fundraising picked up significantly. While the Foundation prepares for its annual audit, we estimate an 8-9% improvement in the expense ratio - a remarkable improvement.

Many of our key supporters, including restaurants, schools, first responders and hospitals, all heavily impacted during COVID-19, look forward to returning in 2023. Despite these challenges, the Foundation honored all its commitments to researchers throughout the pandemic while awarding new research grants and while 98% of our grant dollars were awarded to a U.S. research institution in fiscal year 2022, many of our grants involved international collaboration.

We salute the leaders, communities and industries that returned in 2022 and appreciate their increased generosity which has enabled more lifesaving research to be awared this year to conquer kids' cancer.
